the myth of time management
June 03, 2019
gentle reader,
can we talk about this seriously, please?
there is no such thing as time management!
nada. zip. zero. nothing.
because there is only 24 hours, 1440 minutes, 86,400 seconds in a freaking day!
you can't compress that time.
you can't expand that time.
the only thing you can do is to control how you use that time!
you can't manage time.
you have to manage you!
maybe that is why so many people struggle with "time management". because it does not exist.
it can't.
therefore, if something does not exist, it makes it pretty difficult to change it, right?
i listen to several podcasts and follow self-improvement pages on facebook and instagram.
this is something that i have been hearing and seeing a lot of lately.
programs to help you manage your time.
mantras to help you manage your time.
habits to help you manage your time.
face it, you are always going to fail if this is your goal.
there are no two buts about it.
what you need to learn to manage is yourself.
let's get the verbiage correct before we try to change anything that comes afterwards, ok?
every single person is given the same exact time frame, in any given day, week, month or year { illness and death notwithstanding } so if we were concentrating on managing that time, everyone should be experiencing immense success and joy and happiness and whatever...right?
but it isn't time that determines any of that. what we do determines all of that.
you have to make a conscious decision to get off your duff and get it done! listening to podcasts, reading books, scrolling through motivational pages on social media is not going to get the job done, i tell you!
for the love of all that is success...make the decision right now to start implementing what you are listening to, what you are reading! that is the only way you are going to be able to wrangle time with any success. and even then, you truly are not wrangling time but yourself.
it all comes down to one person. and one decision.
are you ready?
- to be a part of all the graduates' celebrations this spring
- for getting stuff done
- for being able to set aside tie to plan for each upcoming week
- for sitting on the deck with kiroman, listening to tunes and planning together
- for naping with the minions
just breathing is not living!
sincerely,
